Jack:

Looking at these pics as I assemble this, it is amazing how much his personality shows through even in the pictures.

He is starting to look a little bit stocky here but he's still a pretty slender guy.

It surprised me a bit that I could get him to “stay” for the pics but sometimes he is quite obedient. No squirrels to chase, I guess.

I don't have his papers, but supposedly both parents are grand champions, and at least a couple of his siblings are no doubt show dogs. The ex has his papers which means she probably has them un-retrievably buried. But the lady who we got him from can probably provide any papers you might wish to have. She is a big show dog lady in Arkansas, there can't be that many women that fit that description and run in the boxer circuits. She will be very interested in following where he goes, she likes to keep up with all of her progeny.

He does that same cock of the head thing that all boxer's seem to do. “Want to go for a run jack ?” He'll twist his head like he's saying “For real, do you mean it ? Like, right now ?”

No, I have no idea what he was looking at. Must have been interesting though. He loves to stare out the window too.

There will be at least a couple people who will be quite concerned about where he goes. When the kids graduated from high school and we divorced, individuals went in all directions but Jack is still considered very much a part of the family. We all take turns taking care of him, but he stays with me 99% of the time. Alice is especially concerned, and will want to check out wherever he goes to make sure she approves in every way.

At 4 and a month or so, he is just now getting past the puppy stage but he is still plenty boisterous.

Like I said, can't believe he just stood here and let me take his pics.

If you didn't know dogs you would say he was smelling the flowers. :)

He really is a beautiful dog. Everywhere we go, we get lots of compliments. My son likes to take him for walks because he says Jack is a “great chick magnet”. The Alice and Mom sometimes have a hard time holding him on the leash if another dog comes by. He is a very social animal, with both humans and other dogs.

He loves to play with other dogs, and has spent a lot of time with many others. I will caution you though that he still thinks he is very much the alpha dog, and if a mean or hostile dog challenges him he will not back down, or at least I've never seen it. Except maybe my brother's 10 year old chow, but they met when Jack was still a pup, so he has always been the boss in that relationship.

Jack is not due back for his annual checkup until January. We also have enough of that expensive revolution stuff for heartworm/etc to make the year. All of his records are at Cornerstone Animal Clinic Preston at Forest – Dr. Mike is a personal friend and a long time vet of all of our family animals. Jack's lineage is allegedly all very long lived and healthy, but I never confirmed this in any way.

He is actually getting pretty well habituated to living in the apartment. He likes going out and sniffing after the large dog population here. Of course when we had the big house and the big yard and everyone was always around it was much better.

Main thing is he just has to spend so much time alone, and being such a social guy, it is sometimes hard on him.

We bought him at something like 8 weeks old. He was chosen as one of the litter NOT to show because his testicles had not dropped or something like that. He was $750 at that time, no idea what dogs like this are even worth when they are 4 years old, and so obviously well trained and cared for :)

If there were anything close by to chase or smell or be friends with, that leash wouldn't be slack and lying on the ground.
